Energy and water use per wash: Strong. The European Environment Agency frames reuse and repair as ways to 'reduce the demand for new products', and states that premature disposal across the EU causes an estimated 261 million tonnes of CO2-equivalent emissions, consumes 30 million tonnes of resources and generates 35 million tonnes of waste each year, impacts that keeping a machine in use through resale or reuse avoids. source↗ 2026
