Recall and safety record: Limited. Food Safety News reported that Salmonella Infantis traced to Diamond Pet Foods' Gaston, South Carolina, plant led to a May 2012 recall covering more than 30 product lines, including Taste of the Wild, and that CDC and state investigators confirmed at least 14 human infections and five hospitalizations across nine states. FDA's dilated cardiomyopathy report also lists Taste of the Wild with 53 adverse-event reports as of April 30, 2019, the third highest of the 16 named brands, which FDA says does not establish that the diets caused the disease. source↗ 2026
